RANDY LACY MEMORIAL RIDE

From Louisville to Clay City, KY

                                                    Sunday, September 16, 2007

The River City FOP Lodge 614 and Auxiliary 614 sponsored a run in honor of slain Chief Randy Lacy, Clay City, Kentucky.

Randy was killed in the line of duty on June 13, 2007.  He left behind his wife, Ruthie, sons, brothers, a large law enforcement family and countless friends.

Randy had two dreams that were not realized in his lifetime.  One was to have

an FOP Auxiliary for the families and to have a lodge for the members of Red

River Gorge Lodge #70.  On August 2nd, their newly formed Auxiliary officers were installed.  This left his dream for a lodge.  With law enforcement, we are all brothers and sisters, and RCFOP wanted to assist them in making all Randy's dreams come true.

The run started at the lodge in Louisville with a second registration at the Man O War Harley Davidson in Lexington, Kentucky.  We then continued, with 100 bikes and cars, to Stanton, Kentucky for the unveiling of Randy's memorial.  Greg Adams, a lifelong friend of Randy's brought up the rear with a semi flatbed with a 8' x 12' banner depicting Randy's picture and end of watch date.  On the back of the trailer was Randy's Police car.

After the service in Stanton, riders made the small trek to Clay City's Am Vets for a celebration of Randy's life.  There RCFOP awarded a "large" check to Red River Gorge.  We raised over $2,000 and as one their members stated "this is a hell of a start".

Donations can still be made to the 'Randy Lacy Memorial Fund', River City FOP 614, 6204 Price Lane Rd., Louisville, KY  40229.
